The Coolpix (700, 800, 900, 950, 990) can display images on a TV monitor as a
slideshow. The order in which the images are displayed isdeteremined by the
file name: the images are shown from the lowest number to the highest. To change the order
of the sequence, it is necessary to rename the images manually with filenames that
correspond to the order in which the pictures should be displayed.
However, the following points should be noted:
- The file renaming can only be effected on a computer, not in the camera. The camera does
not have the means to change edit filenames.
- Is is not possible to transfer the images from the computer to the camera by serial or
USB cable. The images must be copied directly from the computer onto a CF card which is
mounted in a PC adapter or CF card reader. The CF card can then be replaced in the camera
to display the images.
- If the files are altered in any way (rotated, edited, saved etc) whilst in the
computer, then the camera will no longer display them as it does not recognise them as a
camera image file. (This condition applies regardless of the file extension.)
- The file naming must be comply with the format that the camera uses: for example
Dscnxxxx where "xxxx" is any four-digit number.
- The files must be placed in a directory that has been created by the camera.
When the camera is connected to the computer by serial or USB, the camera appears
in Nikon View as a read-only device and images cannot be transferred from the computer to
the camera directly by this interface.
