6. Using the Windows Nikon Browser with Compact Flash Cards

The Windows Nikon View 900 browser becomes an integral part of the Windows desktop, allowing the camera contents to be accessed as images in  folder or device  called "Nikon Coolpix 900"

The Coolpix 900 appears in the Windows Explorer list of devices and under the "My Computer" icon. When a camera is connected to the computer, clicking on the Coolpix 900 icon displays the images stored in the camera as thumbnail or a list.

However, if the camera is not connected, the browser can still be used to view thumbnails, for example from a Compact Flash Card that has been  inserted in a laptop's PC card slot. Simply double click on the Coolpix 900 camera icon and wait for the error message advising that there is no camera connected.

Click OK to dismiss the message and then click on the "View" menu (see above) to gain access to the images on the Compact Flash card by selecting "Removable Storage". Note that the selections related to viewing images in this (View) menu are not visible until the Coolpix 900 camera icon has been double-clicked.

The Images on the Compact Flash card will be displayed as thumbnails in a new window.
