2. Using 'multiple exposure' mode. The Coolpix 4500
provides a 'multiple exposure' setting as one of the scene modes.
(Image 1) This feature is new to the Coolpix range and offers a
further function where the user can take full advantage of their
creativity.

When the first image is taken, it is then superimposed onto the
LCD monitor, over the view through the lens, to aid in the composure of the next image. (Image 2)
Two successive exposures are combined to form a single image. The
exposures are added together which means that, depending on the
subject, overexposure may occur. If a bright object is in the same
position for each shot taken, it will then be exposed twice
causing 'overexposure'.
Exposure compensation may be required to ensure correct exposure
is obtained; as a rule of thumb -1.0 EV should be set. Although
when using digital cameras to create multiple exposures, images
can be viewed and additional shots taken at different settings
until a satisfactory result is produced.

Exposure compensation may not be required if the background is
completely black and the subject is positioned in different areas
of the frame in each of the two shots. For further details on
creating multiple exposure images with the Coolpix 4500 please
refer to page 48 of the English instruction manual supplied with
the Coolpix 4500.
