1. Creating 'sepia tone' images.

The Coolpix 4500 is the first Coolpix camera to provide a 'sepia tone' setting within the Saturation Control menu. (Image 1).

When the sepia setting has been selected the view through the monitor screen is also in sepia tone, providing an easy and accurate depiction of the image to be taken.

The two images above provide a comparison between the colour image and the sepia tone image. Sepia can be used to produce a more atmospheric and warm image or provide an 'old', antique look and feel.
When sepia is chosen the icon appears on the monitor screen (image 4) and all on screen information changes from white to green.

The sepia tone that is produced in camera using the Coolpix 4500 can also be reproduced on images taken on previous Coolpix cameras using editing applications such as Adobe Photoshop™ using the following easy steps:

  1. Open the image in Photoshop.
  2. If the image is in colour, go to Image > Adjust > Desaturate and go to step 4.
  3. If the image is in greyscale go to Image > Mode > RGB Colour.
  4. Go to Image > Adjust > Variations.
  5. Move the Fine<-->Coarse slider down one step from the middle location.
  6. Click on More Yellow once.
  7. Click on More Red once.
  8. Click OK.
