The Coolpix 2500 has the ability to take images at about 1.5 frames
per second.
This function can be used where the object is moving in and out of frame
or just moving in a way that the objects location maybe hard to predict
for the final image.
This can be seen below where the dancer is moving into the final image
pose, this pose is not held for long so the use of the 'Continuous'
function was very important.
This can be achieved by adjusting the setting; 'Shooting menu/
Continuous'. This section has three settings; 'Single', 'Continuous' and
'Multi-shot 16'. (Screen shot 1).
Note: To adjust the 'Continuous' setting the camera has to
be in shooting mode 'M' - Manual.
How do I
adjust this setting?

Screen shot 1. Continuous options. |
When 'Continuous' has been selected the camera automatically switches
off the internal flash so that the 1.5 frames per second can be achieved
and the camera does not have to wait for the flash to charge before each
image can be taken.
Note: Because the flash is cancelled, the shutter speed is
reduced and the chance of camera shake is increased. This option is best
used where available light is sufficient. Test images maybe required to
ensure enough light is present.
The number of images/ frames that can be taken in 'Continuous' mode
is dependant on the quality setting on the camera; the total size or
remaining space on the CF card may also be a factor in being able to
store the images taken.
Fine mode: 3
Normal mode: 6
Basic mode: 11
Further images can be taken even when the buffer is being used, although
the rate at which the images are taken will drop. For the 1.5 frames per
second to be available once more the 'recording indicator' on the
monitor has to be no longer shown. (Screen shot 2).
