1. Major functional additions
and changes to Nikon View version 6 (Windows)
- A function which allows
images to be selected for transfer based upon the date of capture has been
added to Nikon Transfer.
- A function for setting
the camera’s date and time when connected to a computer has been added to
Nikon Transfer. This function allows the computer clock date and time
setting to be applied to the camera (available only with the D100 and
D1-series cameras with a PTP connection and new models to be released in
2003 with a PTP connection).
- A function for outputting
a single image or multiple images at once to JPEG format has been added to
Nikon Browser.
- A function for writing
selected image(s) to CD-R/CD-RW has been added to Nikon Browser (this
function available under Windows XP only).
- A search function has
been added to Nikon Browser. Search rules can be selected from By file
name, By scene mode or By date.
- A function for outputting
selected image(s) to HTML format has been added to Nikon Browser.
- With version 6, it is now
possible to select an ordered series of thumbnails by selecting only the
first and last thumbnail in the numbered series in Nikon Browser.
(With previous versions, multiple thumbnails were selected in a
rectangular pattern dependent upon the first and last thumbnails selected.)
- A
function which allows the user to rename multiple files and folders
simultaneously according to a naming rule selected by the user has been
added to Nikon Browser.
- A
function which allows the user to move or copy multiple files and folders
simultaneously has been added to Nikon Browser.
- A function allowing for simultaneous display of Nikon
Browser and Nikon Viewer has been added.
In addition, a function which displays the associated image in Nikon
Viewer when a thumbnail is selected in Nikon Browser has been added.
- A function for applying
or removing tags to or from selected images has been added to Nikon Browser
and Nikon Viewer.
- The
number of possible attribute icons displayed for images in Nikon Browser and
Nikon Viewer has been increased from 4 to 11.
- A function for attaching
a preview image with 1,600 pixels on its longer side to RAW images (Nikon
NEF Preview Creator) has been added to Nikon Browser and Nikon Viewer.
- A
Preference button has been added to the toolbar in Nikon Browser and
Nikon Viewer.
- CMS (Color Management
System) support has been added to Nikon Viewer.
- The Display at the
Original Size, Fit Image to Window and Fit Image to Desktop
options have been added to Nikon Viewer.
- A Red Eye Correction
function has been added to the Tool Palette in Nikon Editor.A Sharpening
function has been added to the General Adjustments palette in Nikon Editor.
- A
Tone Change function for changing the tone of a color image to Black
and White or Sepia has been added to the General Adjustments
palette in Nikon Editor.
- A
Scene Mode item has been added to the information displayed in the
Shooting Data area.
- The
default setting for the Shooting Data area has been changed to closed.
- There
have been changes to the E-mail settings window when transferring images via
e-mail.
- There
have been changes to the Module Selection dialog box when uploading images.
- A
function which converts non-sRGB images to the sRGB color profile when using
the E-mail, Output to HTML or Publish functions has been added.
- The
upload function has been added (Europe only).
- A
function which allows the date and time of capture (Imprint shooting date
or Imprint shooting date with time) to be imprinted on the output
image has been added.
- There
have been changes to the Meta data print setup dialog box when printing
shooting information with images.
- Zip
disk case(3.8”´3.8”) and CD case(4.7”´4.7”) options have been added to the
Select picture size setting in the Print layout dialog.
- The
NEF plugin has been changed so that the RAW Adjustments dialog box is not
displayed when the NEF plugin is installed to Photoshop 5.
2. Functions discontinued with Nikon View 6
- The
Launch third party image database program option and function, which
automatically registered images with third-party image database applications
after transfer, has been removed from the General panel in the
Transfer options.
- The
Cumulus filter is no longer bundled with Nikon View.
- Nikon
Viewer’s Raw data display mode setting with its High speed
and High quality options has been discontinued.
3. Cautions to be observed when installing Nikon View 6
- All previous versions of
Nikon View (Nikon View 900, Nikon View version2.x, DX, version 3.x, version
4, version 5) and Nikon Capture version 1.x must be uninstalled before Nikon
View 6 can be used.
- QuickTime version 5.0.2
or later is required in order to take advantage of all of Nikon View 6
functions. The latest version of QuickTime is available for download from
the Apple Computer web site.
- When
using Nikon View 6 in combination with Nikon Capture 2 or Nikon Capture 3,
be sure to use the latest versions of both (Nikon View and Nikon Capture)
applications.
